November 29 2010 - Approval of PGI for Balsamic Vinegar of Modena
The PGI (Protected Geographical Identification) is an European guarantee which gives an European protection of a quality product by assuring the respect of specifications with clear procedures, which will be established by the Certifying Committee and Supervisory Board of the European Community.
PGI gives justice to Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and strengthen it as a symbol of “Made in Italy” and as a representative element of a land rich in history and tradition, as Modena area is.
Now it is possible to protect all consumers by guaranteeing a certain quality of raw materials employed, the origin of the product and the ageing needed to obtain the real Balsamic Vinegar of Modena.
Toschi is very proud of this achievement. This recognition rewards the common effort of manufacturers and local and regional authorities, guaranteeing in this way a protection against imitation and false products.
Toschi has been producing Balsamic Vinegar of Modena for many years following the PGI specification. In fact, the entire production was already awarded with the Seal of recognition of the Consortium of Certified Production.
